The BASE 51 Counselling Service

The BASE 51 Counselling Service offers emotional support to young people. It is recognised that the journey through adolescence can be difficult and confusing on a personal level, never mind all the stuff connected to friends, family, peers, professionals and life generally.

The Counselling Service is professionally accountable and offers realistic confidentiality to all clients. All the Counselling here at BASE 51 is Person-centred which means the client and their issues are the focus. Counsellors do not judge their clients; instead they listen to gain a better understanding of how it is for you! Counsellors do not 'fix' things or tell people what to do, their intention is to support and empower the individual.

We aim to offer counselling to those young people who are unable to access counselling elsewhere.

We are proud to be part of the multidisciplinary team within BASE 51 which strives to support all of the individual.

The Counselling service offers ongoing structured sessions and also operates a 'Drop-in' for young people who are in crisis.

The Counselling Service can be accessed through the following:

• Referral from an external agency (GP, Social Services, CAMHS etc.) or from another service within BASE 51

• Self-referral and assessment with the Counselling Coordinator

• 'Drop-in' service available on Monday afternoon between 2pm - 4pm and on Thursday evening between 4pm - 6pm (these times can be subject to change)
