BASE 51 Families Support Service

The Families Worker provides support to young parents and families working in partnership with other statutory and non-statutory agencies focusing on the 5 aims of "The Every Child Matters" framework.

The service also provides active support to young pregnant women/expectant fathers during and after their pregnancy, liaising with the centre nurse and outside agencies to ensure that they are well prepared for parenthood.

Support available includes:

• Help securing a nursery place
• Enrolment on parenting courses
• Acompaniment to appointments
• Support and advice completing forms
• Referrals to local children's services

BASE 51 philosophy is that children should be valued and their full development is only possible if they are part of an active environment which represents their individual identity, culture and heritage and positive action is taken to support this.

How to access the Families Support Service

• Young people can self refer, or be referred by other agencies
• Come to the front door - NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY please ring the bell
• Telephone BASE 51 and ask to speak to the Families Support Worker
